Lake Norman HBA Raises Money To Benefit Construction Apprenticeships

The Lake Norman HBA has partnered with ROC, a nonprofit ministry,?as well as?Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Goodwill and various local construction companies to bring construction technology training to at-risk high school students on the west-side of Charlotte.? ROC students start the construction program their junior year and receive skills training in advanced carpentry, electrical, HVAC, C.A.D.D. and B.I.M.? ROC students receive dual high school and college credits and can finish their Associates Degree (free of charge) at CPCC by age 19.? The Lake Norman Home Builders Association has partnered with The ROC to help transport its students in and around the Charlotte region? this summer as they participate in paid internships with various home builders.? The Lake Norman Home Builders Association has donated $5,000, which was raised at events sponsored by the Professional Women in Building of the Lake Norman Home Builders Association.??These funds will assist the organization with costs associated with student transportation needs to the job site.

The goal of ROC is to provide a career path for underserved teens through Youth Apprenticeship in the construction industry, where skilled labor is so deficient.?
